Cloudy dark red pour, with a huge pink head. Huge black currant aroma, with a vegetal twinge. Bright mouth feel, incredibly tart, soft carb. The finish is incredibly sour, huge black currant notes, with the slightest of barrel notes. The sweetness of the brandy barrel emparta a light grape juice quality that cuts some of the tartness. Nice stuff.

A purple ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with black currant, light Brett, light lactic notes, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light balsamic, black currant, light acidic notes, pleasant.

(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Aug 7 2019) Medium red pour pinkish head heavy lace. Aroma intense red currant juice, cran raspberry juice, slightly earthy and musky, some wet earthy funk, fresh leaves. Flavour is high acidic cranberry and currant, biting citrus, leaves, slight red wine vinegar, berry pips, soft oak, minerals, some tannin and wet funk in the back. Light to med bodied and slick. Quite heavy on the acidity even for an HHoE beer, with the currants probably contributing quite heavily to that. Nice one but I could have had the acidity dialled down a bit.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque cloudy dark pinkish colour of some sort with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of currants, with lots of balsamic vinegar, and a bit of vomit. Flavour is full of black currant, butyric, and light oak. Too much vomit and overripe fruit. Just bad.

Soured cranberry, purple plum. Dark red with a small white head. Cranberry and pits with a long finish.

Purple colour, on the palate there's a lot of tartness, a mellow fruit, maybe a touch of diacetyl. But overall, it's tart and fruity.

375ml bottle (thx, Brian C.!) at Matt's. Appearance: hazy pale purple with a white head. Aroma: very nice black currant notes along with barrel notes. Taste: along the same lines, moderately to high sour. Overall: I wish it would be less sour, then I would like it more definitely.

Bottle: Poured a reddish color ale with a large foamy head with medium retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of tart notes with strong blackberry notes with some oak notes also noticeable. Taste is mix of tart notes with some funky Brett notes with some dominant black currant notes and a light acidic finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nice fruity tart ale with good level of complexity.
