Tap at The Euston Tap - 28/08/12. Rich dark brown approaching black with a thin tan head that soon dissipates to the edge. Big roasted malt nose backed up by sweet sugars and milky chocolate. Tastes as nose but less roastiness and sweeter than the aroma suggests but leading to a dry roasted finish.

Keg at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear, dark red-brown with a small, beige foam head. Nose is dark malts with hints of cocoa and maple. Flavor is medium sweet with cocoa, plastic, dirt, burnt leaves, some herbal hops, slight alcohol. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warmth to finish, all dark, fainty smokey and roasty malts, burnt sugars, earthy bitterness. Mostly uninspiring.

Keg at Euston Tap. London. A black coloured pour with a large beige head on top. Roasty, malty aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, slightly smokey with a hint of coffee in there, not bad..

Jet black colour, tan head, nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, lots of black, old, slightly stale coffee. Malts, cookies, light chocolate tones. Slightly bitter, roasted malts flavour, bitter coffee, light sweet notes. Quite full body, finish coffee and roasted malts.
Nice and full beer, but quite one-dimensional in coffee.

Draught Huge dark-beige/cream head over virtually black beer with beautiful lace. Roasted, burnt aromas, really like roasted meat or bread, Maillard-like; Roasted, and definitely a tad smoked flavouring, roasted grains, but also smoked cured meat. Warming up, liquorice. Medium to better bodied, quite slick and a velvety texture. Nice, eating & drinking.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic Italian Beer Festival ’12.
