Imperial Oatmeal Stout

This stout starts off with a complex aroma of roasted malt and coffee. A large amount of malted and flaked oats provides a velvety smooth texture with a luscious creamy head. It finishes with delicate notes of sweet chocolate balanced by a slight coffee bitterness. This is definitely not the beer you want to be drinking as a night cap or you’ll find yourself staring at the ceiling Counting Sheep. 30kg of “Riacho Doce, Brazil” coffee beans from our friends at @prototype.coffee was added. This full flavoured coffee comes from a single farm in Brazil. It’s a no nonsense rich bean loaded with dark chocolate and toasted almond flavours.

47,3 cl can @ Antitasting, canned 19.02.2019 Aroma is somewhat musty with nettles and herbal tones. Flavour has nettles, strong herbal tones, some ash and salty licorice. Also rubber. Messy and not good.

473 ml can. Pours black with short bubbly tan head. Aromas of stale coffee, peanuts/vegetables, abit of tobacco, and oily roasted malts. Messy hard to place flavors of same.Possibly an example of a poor coffee integration/match

The aroma is a unique mix of spicy coffee, jalapeno almost, maybe unroasted coffee beans. Has a dark brown body with no head. Flavour is lots of coffee, sweet coffee, charred beans overlapping on more beans. Mouthfeel is full enough. This is rather overworked and lacking finesse, somewhere between unroasted coffee beans and vodka. I feel it would be accompanied very well by gangsta rap.

Poured from the tap at the brewery. Black with tan head. Definitely getting the green pepper, along with some mild coffee. Tastes a bit off though.

2019-04-16, draught at the brewery, 10.6% ABV, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Black colour with small brown head. The smell of coffee is stale. Lean body, moderately sweet, the coffee tastes a bit like a cigarette butt, with little malt/chocolate depth; the alcohol is well hidden. I think that the low carbonation, for once, didn't help. It may be better from cans.
Ok beer.

2019-03-07, draught at the brewery, 10.3% ABV, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Light aroma of roasted malts; compared to the can, there is no green pepper, but also the coffee is not evident. Smooth mouthfeel, lean, light sweetness; the flavour is not very deep, some dark caramel, little coffee, and weak final.

2019-02-28, can at Matt's, 10.3% ABV, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Dark brown colour, not much head. The aroma is a bit dusty, some green pepper. The mouthfeel is just lightly sweet, a bit weak compared to expectations, with some caramel and generic coffee flavour.
Good. But it doesn't seem like the best Twin Sails effort.

Dark brown, without much head. This has a soft and sweet character, with bright dark fruitiness, oats, and a mellow coffee note in the finish. I will say, though, that I had some from a can a few days later and it was really quite roasty.

473mL can, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out prominent coffee notes upfront, with some fruitiness, and medium toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of fruity coffee, berries, and medium toasted malt. Very fruity coffee characterizes this.
