30/XI/19 - sample @ Day 2 of Billies Craft Beer Festival 2019, BB: n/a - (2019-2120) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!
Aroma: nice roast, some coffee, caramel and mocha, and… is that sea weed??? Smells a bit saltine, like breakwaters. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: bit sweet and sugary start, fruity, some blueberries, blueberry cake, bit sweet, lots of dark chocolate. Aftertaste: sweet, pretty malty, sugary, nice roast, more chocolate, like it!

(473ml can from Himmeriget) Pitch black pour with a small dark tan head. Aroma of rich sweet confectionery chocolate, dark toffee, cream, toasty cacao, earthy coffee, vanilla, quite some roasted and burnt grains, a mix of sweet and roasty really. Flavour mimics the nose, there's sweet fudgy confectionery dark and milk chocolate up front, with some toffee and lactose, creamy vanilla, but also punchy cacao, coffee and burnt grain bitterness. Mid-sip on the roastiness take over from the sweetness as the dominant flavour, lots of black coffee, cacao and burnt grain with some licorice and subtle vanilla. Moderately high bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Smooth-medium full body, somewhat creamy, with soft carbonation and little alcohol. Quite balanced for a bit of a pastry stout, if anything it dances with being over-bitter and anise heavy at the end but that's a quibble. Solid stuff.
