Draught at Parallel 49, Vancouver
Dark brown color, no head. Some caramel and alcohol aroma, lightly earthy. Good body, malt and caramel flavor, good but without the depth of other Barley Wines, moderately sweet, a bit nutty, toffee; warming alcohol in the final.
Good beer, not deep enough for a Barley Wine.

Amber-brown, slight haze. Bubbly head. On the nose, balanced nose, medium sugars, light fruit, touch of raisin. Little bit of heat. This will take well to the barrels, I think.

On tap Pours a dark brown with light head. Aromas of sugary malts, dark fruit and herbal hops. Flavors of sugar, treacle, caramel malts and more herbal malts. Nice

On tap at Parallel 49, pours a deep dark burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma brings out caramel, bready malt and a hint of toffee. Flavour is very malty, with lots of caramel bready malt, followed by brown sugar and light toffee. Some black pepper in there too (thanks Dave Shea). Not overly complex, but it's cohesive. Low on the hops - this is a malt bomb. Underwhelming and simplistic. It's not bad.
