Crack open Yeti Imperial Stouts sophisticated sibling Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti's already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can't tame a Yeti?

Bottle shared with tderoeck, 77ships and Alengrin @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, roasted malts lightly, coffee strongly. Taste malts, medium coffee, some roast, strong bitter. Medium to full body and carbonation. Pretty damn good, although I don’t get the oak aging that clearly.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with retentive tan head. Aromas of acidic black coffee, dark sweet fruit, heavily roasted malt, light green oak and a bit of perfume. Flavors are similar with emphasis on acidic vs oily and very sharp dry, dark, bitter chocolate. Bottled Sept 2014. This one may need to sit a bit.

Bottle. A- Oak, roasty, alcohol. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Oak, woody, smoky, bitter chocolate, coffee. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- Maybe the best of the Yeti beers, tenfold smoother and more drink ability than the original Yeti. The oakiness adds a nice dimension and makes it smooth.

I’ve actually had this before, but forgot to upload the review on this the last time I had it.
Here’s a bottle aged from 2011, November 14.
I poured this into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice dark brown close to black color with a super nice looking off white/tan foamy half fingered head that dissipates to a slight film coating the top of the glass. The tan lacing sticks finely to the sides of the glass in great strength.
The smell was a wonderful combination of woody oak, light chocolate, light vanilla and just a tad of booziness (wow, and this was a 2011 bottle).
The taste was sweet and hot (from the booziness) with a nice allocation of woody chocolate. I didn’t get any aftertaste in today’s beer and can’t seem to find my notes from 2012 to compare, but anyways. There is a super nice long boozy chocolate finish (now that’s what I call inviting).
On the palate, she sits about a medium in body with a super nice sipping aspect to it. The carbonation seems to have died a bit due to its age.
Overall, I do remember saying this the last time I had this and that’s the fact that I had this variant before regular Yeti - \"the cart before the horse\" perhaps. No worries, still a wonderful brew that I would love to have again and still I hope some day I’m able to have the regular version of this.

Bomber acquired in a trade last year. Huge fan of the yeti blends. split 3 ways with my neighbor. Pitch black pour, really nice 3 finger head sticky as hell. Nose is oak, white grapes, chocolate pie and rhubarb. taste is vanilla and dark fruit forward with chocolate and oaky burnt tannic tastes. Pretty darn good! Glad I held on to this for a while

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/14/2011. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toast, molasses, char, light smoke, oak, light clove, vanilla, herbal, and oak/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, oak, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toast, char, molasses, light smoke, oak, light clove, vanilla, herbal, and oak/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, caramel, toast, char, molasses, light smoke, oak, vanilla, and oak/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of big dark/roasted malt and moderate oak flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, silky, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is incredible. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible oak aged imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and moderate oak flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
