July 07, 2025 (8/4/8/4/16=4.0): Poured from 355mL can (pkg 10/10/2018). Dark brown with small tan head. Roast malt, feint oxidation, slightly soured sweet chocolate, hint of coffee. Decent.

Nov 27, 2021 (8/4/8/4/16=4.0): Poured from 355mL can (pkg 10/10/2018). Near black with small tan head. Coffee, roast malt, touch of chocolate, subdued bourbon. Blended quite nicely.

Can at Daniele’s in Rome-Italy. Thank you Alex. Black pour with a small ivory foam. Nose: alcohol, black olive. Mouth: sweet and a bit unbalanced imo. You feel the bourbon barrel and the alcohol, residual sugar. Just solid.

Vintage rate July 2025 (2018 can). Dark brown. No head. The bourbon on the aroma is fairly heavy-handed. It's sweet, soy sauce, bit of oxidation. Still a fair bit of chocolate. The bourbon definitely comes through rough. 7 - 8 - 8 - 8 = 7.9

Fresh rate, draft, 2018. On tap at Twin Sails. Dark brown. Rich, boozy. Lots of chocolate. So nice. Uncompromising beer. 8 - 8 - 8 - 8 - 8.5 = 8.1

Early 90's northwestern Washington, I remember you. This is another nearly black guitar ale so shall we mention in this universe. It smells of big yeasty coffee, no complexity, New York in 1989. Tasting it, it hits you like a muddied scotch getting drunk on chocolate cake. Huge yeasty chocolate, big sugary prose, damn this is going well for them; some kind of brown syrup that keeps us up to date, sugary for sure; yet here we are.

355mL can, pours a jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon, followed by vanilla, burnt brown sugar and treacle. Flavour is loaded with brown sugar, heavy bourbon, treacle and medium roast. Heavy sweetness, rather cloying, but it's quite tasty. Very good dessert beer.

355 ml can. Overcarbonated splatter on opening. (Did someone add carbonation?) Pours black with a moderate head that settles quickly. Aromas of dry oak, dry bourbon, nutty chocolate and roasted malts. Flavors of nutty chocolate liqueur, spicy dry bourbon, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. A hint of the ABV in spice and heat. Quite nice

Can - Big chocolate and tons of bourbon. Deep jet brown with a small white head. Dark molasses and sweetness with a big bourbon barrel note. Dark and sweet with some booze in the finish.

Glass at the brewery with Alex during 3rd anniversary. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is American oak, bourbon, some slight berry notes. Taste is exactly the same, very sweet and crazy oily with lots of berry notes. A bit too sweet (I am surprised saying so, lol). Good one, though.

2023-04-28, can, 4.5 years old, 8-4-8-4-17=41
The can is under high pressure, but it's not deformed, and with some skills I managed to open it without losing a single drop. The aroma is alright: chocolate, alcohol, nuts. Full bodied but lean, sweet but not syrupy; dominant chocolate flavour, with alcohol warmth, roasted nuts; it just has a light bitter touch in the finish; no oxidization.

2021-11-26, can, 3 years old, 8-4-9-5-17=43
The spirit feeling is very moderate; very sweet but not syrupy, roasted malts, traces of green peppers and coffee, rich.
Still excellent.

2019-07-08, can, horizontal with the Canadian version, 8-4-9-5-18=44
Upon opening it seems even more carbonated/pressurized than a few months ago, producing a thick brown head; it doesn't last long, maybe it's the high ABV that gets rid of it. Just a mild carboard note in the nose, but it's smooth, deliciously sweet, with dark chocolate, a touch of liquorice, and very warm alcohol feeling; roasted nuts in the final.
As expected, keeping up nicely.

2019-04-02, draught at the brewery, 8-4-8-4-17=41
$4 for 5oz pour. Very smooth, very sweet, not thick though; I pick some coffee. Mellow

2018-12-16, draught at the brewery, 7-4-8.5-4-16=39.5
$6 For 5oz pour. Very sweet, with some barrel presence, not very complex or deep though.

2018-11-10, draught at the brewery, 8-4-9-5-18=44
Thick, sweet chocolate, very rich, nutty, with notes of cookies, vanilla, light leather.
Probably my favourite BC Imperial Stout.
