Poured jet black, black, and blacker. Small head. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate aroma. Good stuff.

Jet black pour, huge frothy sticky mocha head. Intoxicating aroma of vanilla laced oak, vanilla soaked bourbon and boat loads of cocoa and burnt coffee. I could keep my nose in here forever! The carbonation is a little crazy, must be the chapagne yeast. The alcohol is must more present in the flavor but the copious amounts of cocoa and coffee make up for it. Lots of sweet burnt malts, and the barrel ageing with the oak, vanilla and bourbon are never ending! What an incredible imperial stout I’m blown away. I’m very fortunate to have Bern able to try this. Sorry Fred!!!!

750 ml corked bottle, at a tasting with Garrett Oliver. ABV is 11.3%. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, hints of fusel alcohols. Lovely smooth flavour, vanilla, chocolate and bourbon. Very enjoyable.

From bottle at Brooklyn Brewery, New York. Strong Bourbon aroma with vanilla, wood, roasted malt, some chocolate. Pretty strong barrel influence, body could be a bit more full. Moderate to medium sweet, mildly roasty bitter. Ends a bit dry-ish, for the style. Good, but not mindblowing.

Notes from 9/26/14 BK Black Ops '08 vintage 10.7% abv. Adorable Duck Rabbit snifter. Cork spares my eyes, but still had some kick. Slick, espresso head. Matte black body. Head lingers & coats the glass on every spin. Smells of sharp, charred malt & burnt toast. A bit vinous. Rich bourbon glaze. Cigar smoke, dark chocolate, black coffee, burnt sugar. Tasty. Oxidation is starting to show though. Wood ash, burnt bbq, some slight edges of dark fruit peaking through. Pretty dense, creamy body, just barely cut by some beady carbonation. Still pretty boozy after all these years. Waxy. Thanks for the gift Al.

Tap at DU. Perhaps this hasn't aged well. Raisiny prune tones, barrel heat, odd herbal, medicinal feel. Not in good shape.

My can says this was aged in Four Roses Single batch barrels and is 12.4% abv. Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a huge vanilla and wood. Flavor is a thick. heavy syrupy malt with maple syrup and some bourbon notes. This was super thick and heavy with a lot of bourbon. Flavorful with almost all bourbon and very warming.
