Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve barrels. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, dark malts, dark sugar, oak, bourbon, caramel, hay, vanilla, booze, bark, cocoa, coffee. Taste is slightly dry boozy, weeds, oak, minerals, dark malts, bark, bourbon, hay, cocoa, harsh vanilla, fruit stones, burnt coffee. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly watery and harsh boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Cask at Rattle n Hum West, NYC. Pours black, minimal beige head. Strong coffee nose, chocolate, strong bourbon character, warming, sweet, smooth. Low carbonation, almost flat. Medium bodied. Lacks body and thickness IMO.

Bottle picked up from Wine Rack at Yarnton Nurseries, Yarnton, Oxon, consumed at Lighthouse Keepers Cottages, Lynton, Devon Friday 1st December 2017 shared with Baz, Dom and Loz Pours dark brown with a light tan head. A very nice uncomplicated Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and quite the contrast from the Founders Lizard of Koz, the barrel ageing is really pleasant. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Sampled @OlutExpo 2017, Helsinki. Label said 11.5% Poured pretty much pitch black in color with a thin brown head. Lots of dark chocolate notes, barrel notes, massive roastedness. Coffee in flavor, roastedness, dark chocolate and some oaky thing. Full bodied, heavy, sweet and quite complex with layers of flavors. Slow sipper.

Sampled from bottle at Foeder's bottleshare 28 September 2017. Black color. Beige head, quickly receding. Aroma's are sweetish, red fruit, light vanilla. Retronasal it's whiskey, fruit, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, very fruity, champagne-like. Strong alcohol feel. Under medium bodied. Long finish, light dry, roasty, light bitter. Not too impressed to be honest.
