First pint off a new barrel at The Salisbury Arms in Winchmore Hill. Two pints during the evening and it was superb. A brilliantly made classic English bitter with perfectly balanced malt and bitter hops. A gorgeous colour in the glass and a low abv. When this is good (like this) then it is very good.

Draft at Ye Older White Horse. Dark brown and slick, small creamy beige head, lacing. The definition of mild, gentle in both aroma and taste, yet still full of flavor. Nice mouth feel, rolls off the tongue. Yakes the bottle experience and ratchets it up a notch.

On tap at the Old Vine. Copper colour with a little head. Clean aroma and a beautiful slightly floral bitter taste with a little maltiness.

Cask @ The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury. Pours clear amber. Aroma is light, bready. Taste is perfectly fine, slightly bready, creamy. Inoffensive cask ale that doesn’t quite hit the high notes by modern standards.

Cask in Blur Pig, Grantham. Golden, hazy with a thin white head. Slightly off aroma, taste is pleasant, fairly standard bitter, but nothing special. Might be past its best? One to try again...
