Bottle from Micro Beer Crate. Pours a clear mahogany with small beige head, some retention. Aroma is sweet with light sour pears, raisins, bread, metal. A little odd. The beer shows a lot more in the flavour as the matiness shines through with caramel, toffee and nuts along with some light pear and raisin fruitiness. However there is an undercurrent of booze and metallic notes running through. I enjoyed this but it has its flaws.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Poured a clear dark amber colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is nutty malt. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, rich, earthy, nutty, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Bottle from The Hive, Crowthorne. Aroma is gluey, boozy, with underlying vege hints. Opaque dark chestnut. Thick foamy light beige head. Medium bitter. Low key sour edge. Underlying caramel and nuts. But it's the raw boozy bitterness that prevails. Light bodied. Slick but thin. It wants to be sticky but doesn't quite manage it. Long very astringent finish. A bit of a mess - no restraint.

Medium sweet flavor with notes of ripening berries, caramel, creamy toffee, bread and dates. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with doughy brown bread and caramel and more fruits. Good enough.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s mid-week lasting 03/07/14. Amber / rich ruby red coloured pour with a lasting halo of white head. Aroma is nutty malts, sweet hedgerow berrys, tasty english hops. Flavour is nutty, toasted malts, nice english yeast, some chalk on the water profile. Solid earthy bitterness. Pretty good beer.

50cl bottle from the brewery. A brilliant reddish copper pour with a billowing, but rapidly fading, cream head; rich aroma of warm roasted nuts tossed in caramel; warming, malty caramel taste with some earthy notes and a handful of walnuts thrown in; then a soft bittersweet finish. A very pleasing winter warmer.
