Bottle split at Bespin, thanks to Fergoose, 08/12/16. Pitch black with a tan covering that quickly dissipates. Nose is molasses, orange peel, dark malts, chocolate, spice, toffee, fruit loaf, stewed fruits. Taste comprises tangy fruits, sweet malt, treacle toffee, a touch harsh, molasses farmyard drip, soy sauce. Medium + body, fine carbonation, sweet and sour tang in the close. So so.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 06-08-2016, from Pivovarský Klub, 20160819) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and dark chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sourness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, burnt and bitter. The aroma was nice but the taste was bit off.

Deep black with medium dark brown head. Aroma is nuts, dark chocolate, phenols, licorice, a little coffee. Taste is more phenols, bitter, and not much else. A little one dimensional. Finish is more of the same stuff. Too phenolic. But not totally bad either.

Tap at 20 PIPA. Black color with dark beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some booze, something off as well. Taste is more dark malts, black chocolate. Not bad, but doesn’t stand out among Imperial Stouts.

Bottle 33 cl. Almost black color with average tan foam. Aroma: roasted barley, coffee and chocolate, with yeast and wine. Taste: a bit sour, roasted, chocolate and homemade wine, not my favorite.

Aroma of tar and coffee - my drinking mate, a ballerina, really wasn’t digging this style but she tried it anyways and agreed - no coordination can be expected after a glass of this. Flavour is nice heavy barley, with coffee and charcoal notes. It’s a bash over the head with heavy flavours and hop oils. A great imperial stout.

33cl swing-top bottle courest of and shared with Tderoeck.

Thanks to tderoeck! 330 ml. swing-top bottle sampled. Black, little mocha. Nose is heavy on chicory coffee, licorice, herbal, bitter, leaves,… Taste is bitter herbal, chicory coffee, roast, herbal, boozy soy sauce & ashes. Very roasted & grainy body. Decent for its kind but overall still one of those bitter, herbal, chicory coffee tasting RIS’s.
