Kwak is a traditional strong Belgian amber ale, a perfect blend of malt and hops with a great complexity of flavour.
Appearance: the Kwak beer is recognizable by its deep amber, clear beer with a dense, creamy-coloured head. The white wood support offers a nice contrast with the beer.
Aroma: A balance of dark caramel, dried orange, a hint of banana and baking spices with a touch of earthiness
Flavour: Medium-bodied with a soft, mellow warmth. Flavours include gentle allspice, baked caramel and banana with notes of orange marmalade. Spice and a warming character linger on the finish with a delicate bitterness.

It's amazing that it took so long til I drank this one again and rate it, so finally. Pours clear amber in its iconic glass with a huge, lasting, frothy, white head. The aroma contains caramel, (cookie) dough, cinnamon, brown sugar, spices, orange & apple, faint iron (nothing disturbing). It tastes medium to heavy sweet with cookie & caramel notes, then light spicy bitter, leading to a sweetish, bit spicy and hoppy finish with warming alcohol (fruit liqueur effect). Medium to full body, oily texture (effectively leaving something 'fatty' on the bottom of the glass), fizzy carbonation. My dear Kwak, it's been too long, but I still like you!

0,33 l bottle. Pours clear copper with average off white head. Aroma of malt, some caramel, nicely fruity, mainly stone fruit and some dried figs, sweet candied sugar, a hint of alcohol. Body is medium to heavy sweetness, medium bitter. Body is full, texture oily and carbonation average. Finish is extra long, starts malty, followed by herbal hop notes, medium bitterness and alcohol. Feeling of alcohol stays for a while, but it's not annoying. Maybe not as complex as similarly strong top tripels, but very well rounded and drinkable beer. Alcohol is felt, but it's not annoying.

Bottle from Beery Christmas advent calendar. Pours deep amber, quite clear actually, light beige foam that disappears quite quickly. Nose has some sweet candy sugar, caramel and lightly bitter booze. Belgian yeast for sure. Tastes quite sturdy, candy sugar and Belgian yeast spiciness, some dried yellow plums and light grassy bitterness. Quite dry, drinks easily and finish is warmed up by its abv a bit, light bitter tingle. Classical Belgian, not bad but well, they also never wowed me.

Bottle at home in Beer Hawk advent calendar. Itβs ages since I had one of these. A dark pour with a rich caramel flavour and lots of bass notes. There was low carbonation which was welcome. It was sipped in an ideal spot in front of the fire having put the kids to bed and struggling to get my tablet to work.

Bottle. A deeply pleasing belgian strong ale, silghtly sweet flabours, caramel, some classic belgian strong ale lager/alcohol imbalance. One of the better ones. 16/12/17 Re-rated bottle at some bar in Brussels Midi. Nice colour and booze cuddle but sweet. it's fine. 3.5 to 3.4 (13/6/19) Rerated, keg at Captain Cooks, Γstersund. Its got style and its got grace, but nothing too memorable. Sweet ish. 3.4 to 3.6

Tsja, beroemd biertje, maar toch de eerste maal dat ik deze drink (denk ik nu). Mooie amber kleur, goed beige schuim en een heerlijke smaak, aardig zoetje er in. Kan ik vaker bestellen.

Semi-hazy amber pour with a tan head. Notes of caramel, dried fruit, yeast, plums, bananas, butterscotch. Medium body, soft to medium carbonation, sweet-ish finish. One of the better belgian strong ales that you can find in supermarkets.
