An ode to one of our favourite wrestlers growing up, Koko is a big stout brewed with a ton of malted oats giving it a rich, creamy mouth feel. In our usual style, we conditioned this beer on an absurd amount of toasted coconut which balances beautifully with the roast character of the stout.

Poured from 473mL can (thanks fiulijn). Very dark brown with huge light tan head (tons of carbonation). Toasted oat, mild fudge, just a hint of coconut. Good, but forgettable (kinda like the wrestler Koko B. Ware).

473 ml can. Pours a very dark black with full bubbly head. Aromas of metallic roasted malts, cola, and coconut. Light flavors of coconut and milk chocolate with a bitter roasty finish. OK

Dark brown, though not much head. On the nose mostly a chocolate fudge character. Sweet and smooth, light coconut, lots of oaty softness, touch of alcohol in the finish, and just a gentle bitterness. Wouldn’t mind more coconut but I like it.

Tall can from the brewery (thx, Alex!) shared with wife. Canned on 2018-01-17. Pours a very dark brown with a weak dark beige head. Aroma is roasted malt and... nothing else, hm. Where is promised coconut? Taste is a bit sweet with roasted malt and some slight coconut notes on the background. There are many beers with coconut in it where you do need to try to look for the coconut, but this one is definitely not a such beer. Good imperial stout, though.

Draft - Dark chocolate and oatmeal. Jet brown with a decent brown head. Dark sweet chocolate and toasted coconut. Nice slick rich body.

2024-06-26, purchased in Jan 2021, this is either 3 or 6 years old, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Initially, it seemed a bit thin and possibly metallic; the feeling that some Brett acted while the can was resting warm for many years was present; but the second half of the can just revealed the usual, solid Twin Sails stout, of Str8 Flexin' memory, with solid cacao and chocolate note, round body, moderate sweetness; it doesn't show yet signs of oxidation; but there is no coconut to talk about. Very good.

Aroma of coconut and chocolate with a hint of cinnamon. The mouthfeel is full, smooth, sweet; moderate chocolate base, the roasted coconut is strong, strangely there is a mild soap note. Warming alcohol feeling. I feel that this will be better in a few months. Very good.
2020-03-25, can, 2 years old, 7-4-8-3-16=38
Good chocolate flavour, no coconut; soft bodied, it's still a bit sweet but more lean than it used to, and slightly flat in the finish; but it doesn't show oxidization or other signs of age, and it's still very good.
2018-01-20, draught at the brewery, 8-4-8-4-18=42
Black color, still. It's sweet, full bodied and smooth; nice chocolate, roasty flavor, with hint of coffee, and evident roasted coconut. Very pleasing, excellent.

On tap at Twin Sails, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of coconut, oats and light toasted malt. Flavour is robust, with lots of toasted coconut upfront, followed by oats, and light lactose. Cocoa-y, with a huge coconuty finish. Excellent.
