From the rustic country industrial park that is Lake City, Burnaby, comes this classic farmhouse ale. Lake City Farmhouse is gently spiced and partially sour-mashed, lending a surprising depth of character to an otherwise light, crisp beer.

Excellent foam on a cloudy medium gold body. Lemon on the nose, vague cereal grain, coming off a little detergenty. Taste is smooth cereal, slight grain spice, ending full. Adequate but lacking real character.

Bottle - Belgian esters, light grass and some stone fruit. Cloudy gold with a frothy white head. Sweet and lightly fruity, touch of pepper and a nice finish. Solid.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with full head. Aromas of brett, sulphur, lemon zest, and wheaty malt. Flavors of dull earthy yeast, dry grainy malts, and muted dry citrus. Possibly some spice/coriander.

On tap at the brewery. Spicy and floral hoppy stuff. It is slightly harsh and bitter, but quite good though.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours s hazy blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out lots of spicy Belgian yeast upfront, with some earthiness, and almost a little blue cheese. Flavour is very pleasant, with rustic farmhouse notes, light funk, toasted grains, and some spiciness. Just a hint of tartness on the finish. Better than it smells. I quite enjoy this.

Draught @ Boxcar. Hazy, blonde. Has a light yeasty character. Light bitterness and unexciting biscuity malt. Not into this...a pauper’s Burnabarian.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Cloudy pale blond color with thin compact head. Smooth, very moderate sweetness. They used one Saison yeast that is ravaging in North America and produces: wet paper, coriander, anise, hint of cardamom, celery, other vegetables.
I’m getting used to these beers, hence it’s not a train wreck, but back in the day similar wheat beers from Namur were not highly regarded.
