Tasting at SF’s, growler; 6.1%
Hazy pale blond color, no head. Strong aroma of cucumber and pickles, wheat bread. Tart, not very sour, good blend of cucumber and beer base.
I don’t see the point of brewing this beer, I pity the people who pay top money for this, but it’s refreshing.

Growler - Fresh cucumber with bitter skin. Pale clear gold with a small white head. Cucumber is there but not much else. Would just buy cucumbers and soda water.

The growler at Brian’s office. Pours a slightly hazy blonde with a weak white head. Aroma is young pickled cucumbers. Same taste with some hoppy notes. Interesting.

Hazy. Has a lot of cucumber on the nose...pretty one-dimensional, really. On the palate, it’s a bit weirder. The tartness is there, but milder than usual for this brewery. The cucumber character is quite assertive, but it doesn’t really go as well as you’d think. I wonder if that’s the oak making a statement that doesn’t work because usually the sour/cucumber thing works well. One of the more assertive cucumber beers I’ve had.

Growler, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh cucumber skins, and pickle juice and brine. Flavour is along the same lines, with fresh cucumber skins, a little pickle juice, and crisp biscuity malt on the underside. Not really any tartness, just a lot of cucumber skin. I like this.

Tap. Pours hazy pale golden, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma is light, oak, mint, mercifully little cucumber. Flavor is light tart, loaded with cucumber, mine cooling going on. Cucumber takes over and drives this one to shit town. Medium body.

On tap at Rare Barrel. It pours a clear pale gold color with a white head. The aroma is mouthwatering with apricot, cucumber, a little peach and mango. The flavor has big notes of cucumber, apricots, lemon and vanilla. Very sour, but not bracingly so. Nice melon-like sweetness underneath. Really tasty. One of my favorite of theirs in a while.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is nice with some medium light sour notes and citrus. Some light oak notes with some medium cucumber notes. Light grain character with hints of tropical fruit. Pours a slightly hazy, yellow gold with a small, thin white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with some nice citrus, pineapple and tropical fruit notes. Lemon and tangerines. Light oak notes with a medium light cucumber character. Low bitterness and some light oak tannins. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this beer actually works pretty well and has a nice refreshing character to it. The acidity isn’t too sharp and instead this reminds me a lot of spa water with cucumber and lemons. Some light oak notes compliment the beer as well.
