A heavy, copper colored, bittersweet and extreme hopped beer.
Extase is a Double IPA with a blend of fourteen excellent hops, very intense and with a balanced character. The slight sweetness of the malt sugars and the alcohol complement the bitterness of the beer. Extase does up to its name with its extreme hoppiness (over 100 IBU). A beer with stratification: because of the diversity of hops the beer tastes something differently with the gradual warming by every sip. A delight for every ‘hophead’.

Bottle @ Dochter van de Korenaar brewpub, RBESG 2013. Hazy orange colour, off-white head. Nose is light malted, juicy, lots of hops, pine, grapefruits, citrus. Flavour has a light malty backbone, very hoppy, with pine, grapefruits, zesty and juicy. Fairly bitter. Finish is fruity and fairly bitter. Very balanced and good drinkable. This is great stuff.

bottle from hopduvel ghent pours very fuzzy ( belle felur had the same, it almost looks like an irish coffee :p ) big white head. smell is hoppy, but not that intence. waaw, realy much hops in that flavour. the bitter side is very prominent, but i also get some fruityness for sure ! very american-style . the bitterness reminds me so much of the belle fleur ( an IPA they do ) that i actualy would think this is belle fleur, with extra fruity-hops in it ... the outcome is a realy, realy good IIPA , for being belgium. but next to the american goodies... this is rather mediocer.. but i do like the way this is going , and that is easy to get at a very nice price !

Bottle @ ZZT VII, thx to everyone for sharing their bottles. Cloudy golden to amber color, medium head. Lovely soft fruity aroma. Bitter taste but with a decent malty backbone. Easy drinker. And once again, superb balance from this brewery. Great stuff.

Slightly hazy orange golden colour, firm off-white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, hay, tropical fruit, pine. Hops, quite a bit of them. Bitter flavour, light sweet, alcoholic touch. Lots of aromatic hops. Creamy body, finish bitter hops, tropical fruits, resin and pine.
Great IPA. Fierce, but still balanced. I could drink this all day.

Update 12 May 2013
Compared in a tasting of three fresh double IPAs, head to head with a fresh Pliny the Elder and Borg Úlfur Úlfur, all bottled in April 2013. The Extase was the most dry one, with perhaps the best flavour profile. I was surprised there was no clear winner, I was maybe expecting the Pliny blowing the others away, but the other two stood their ground and shone brilliantly. Great beers, nice tasting!
