750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in late 2012. Pours lightly hazy bright orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big apricot, pear, pineapple, banana, apple, clove, honey, biscuit, candi sugar, cinnamon, ginger, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity pineapple, spices, and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with good strength and a lot of sweetness. Taste of apricot, pear, pineapple, banana, apple, clove, honey, biscuit, candi sugar, cinnamon, ginger, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Large amount of sweetness and some light fruity tartness present on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, pear, pineapple, banana, apple, clove, honey, biscuit, candi sugar, cinnamon, ginger, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice balance and complexity of pineapple, spices, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt flavors; with huge robustness and minimal cloying sweetness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a moderately slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this was a nice and unique Belgian golden ale. Good balance, robustness, and complexity of pineapple, spices, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the big ABV and sweetness. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a hazy golden amber color with a small creamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was boozy apricot and pear. The flavor was tangy peach, apricot, alcohol, table sugar and pear. Long tangy and sour finish of apricot, pear, sugar and booze. Thick and full body. Excellent.

750 mL bottle from Beer Run, opened 12/30/13. Pours a murky orange color with a medium sized fizzy off-white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of pretty much straight pineapple orange banana juice with a slight bit of maltiness. The taste is tart citrus, tart pineapple, bready malts, mild spice, a bit of banana and a very slight bitter note. Medium bodied, slight booze. While I suppose this is technically a beer, it would pair much better with your morning bacon and eggs. I could pretty much approximate this with a glass of juice and a shot of vodka.

Very hazy deep amber beer, little white head. Softish and viscous palate. Stodgy and tangy ripe fruits. Bruised pineapple. A little black pepper and yeast. Semi dry finish. Tinned fruit aftertaste. Overall it’s a bit sticky and stodgy with too much over ripe fruit. The pepper is nicely judged though!

Bottle, 75cl. An unclear, orange-golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. The aroma has a solid dose of cinnamon and also a nice pineapple juice twist. Besides that it’s too sweetish and alcoholic I think. Interesting though. Rather warming on the palate, with spices, pineapple, sweetness and a little bitterness. Full body. Lasting finish with spices, pineapple juice and alcohol. Although an interesting beer, it’s not a beer I crave to repeat. Would be interesting to sample a 6 % ABV edition though. 130803
