16 oz can. Pours a dirty dark mahogany with light head. Aromas of figs, chalky berries, sweet caramel, and wet toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional earthy fresh ground coffee and slightly tart berries. Odd, getting lots of stuff except cacao; but interesting.

Medium brown colour. Not much head. Some dark malt sweetness, a bit of tartness, maybe a touch of brett. Definitely not changing my mind about the futility of dark saison…these elements simply do not go together. It’s decently made and all, but yeah.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 11/07/24). Chestnut brown with small beige head. Saison yeast, touch of cacao nibs, a little bit timid, could go further, but okay.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large light brown foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some black chocolate notes is OK and not as bad as it may sounds. Taste is a mix of dry roasted malt notes with some chocolate notes with strong tart notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not a big fan of dark sour beer but this one is enjoyable enough.

750ml bottle, marked as 7% - dark ruby pour - frothy lace - nose of chocolate, spice, light smoke, cherry - full carbonation in the mouth - maybe a little too full - flavor is dry tobacco, light pepper, moderate acidity - finishing spiciness builds in intensity - a touch of smokiness - some dried cherries - I was hoping for better, but it's good.

Bottle - Earthy, woody spice, meat and malty. Deep brown with a decent beige head. Much like the nose and very carbonated.

750ml bottle at Jonny’s during Eclipses 2016 tasting. Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is odd, riasted malt and some grassy-flowery notes. Taste is the same. Strange stuff.

On tap at Loyal Legion, pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is very subtle, with dry cocoa powder and light Belgian yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with rustic farmhouse notes and dry cocoa powder. What an odd combo. Works pretty well, with a dry finish. Very good.
