(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Apr 20/18) Pours a very lightly hazed dark reddish-amber with almost no head. Notes of fruity, somewhat earthy and tannic red wine grapes, cherries, wood, light to moderate caramel, dark sourdough, light lactic acidity, almost no evidence of the acetic acid I was expecting with just a bare hint of red wine vinegar, herbs and more dried earth. Lightly to moderately tart finishing dry and tannic. Medium bodied and a little oily with relatively low carbonation and a hint of alcohol. Better than I would have expected if I'd seen the reviews here, I was thinking an overly vinegary Flemish-ish bomb was in order but this was way more balanced than that. Maybe it's mellowed a lot with age.

Fruity amber, no head, woody balsamic note. Rich deep fruitiness. Acetic, woody, fruity, strong...this is a tasty number.

Bottle. Pours clear deep ruby, small pinkish white head, dissipates pretty quickly, some lacing. Aroma has a fair bit of acetone up front, vinous, oaky, musty, red wine, vanilla. Acetone starts to fade with time, but some harshness remains. Flavor is light tart, light plus funk, vinous, oaky, NPR. Medium body, low carbonation. Huh, not as good as I was expecting.

Keg at BD Aberdeen. It pours hazy deep ruby with with a small white head. The aroma is juicy, jammy, big red wine character, jammy, berry skin, vanilla and oak. The taste is dry, crisp, bitter, vinous, red berry, blueberry skin, blackberry, earthy, musty funk, bright acidity, wood, granny smith apple, sherbet and tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty much the red wine equivalent of beer. Perhaps a touch hit, but very good fun.

750ml bottle from High Point. Pours a hazy copper with weak tan head. Aroma is acidic, very fruity with lots of cherry jam notes, some vanilla and barrel notes. Taste is pretty the same with moderate to level acidity. Very sour, but it is good, though.

Sergey’s hunt
Dark amber color with red shades, hazy. Interesting aroma; there is oak barrel (sweet vanilla), red wine, cherries, and hints of acetone. Good body strength, suitable for supporting the strong acidity; cherry juice, young red wine, wood, some acetone notes.
Would be better without the acetone, but it’s a very good beer.

Bottle shared by Jesse. Thanks dude! It pours a reddish purple color with a small, foamy head. The aroma has a touch of acetic acid and nail polish. There’s also some red wine, grape and cherry in there too. The flavor has more cherry, grape, hints of syrup, funk and alcohol. Kind of harsh with some off flavors.
