473ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, espresso, cocoa powder, ash and a hint of vanilla. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, licorice and cocoa powder in a dry, mild bitter, coffee finish. Medium body with a soft, creamy, smooth texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced and tasty.

Deep dark brown body and modest foam. Modest cocoa on the nose, maybe molasses, but too thin. Taste is good cocoa and some chocolate syrup, ending smooth. Not bad, not exciting.

Bouteille 660ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka laissant une fine dentelle. Arôme de cacao, malt torréfié, café froid, un peu vert. Goût de malt torréfié, cacao, légère acidité, un peu sucré, espresso. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen-faible.

Near black, with a medium head. Sort of a burnt roast - must be the espresso - dominating the aroma. On the palate some nice malt sweetness with dark sugars. But then the roast kicks in, aggressively, and this detracts from the finish. It’s just harsh and this beer would need a lot less to let the nice malt sugars do their thing.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark brown color. Solid Stout, where the coffee adds a dynamic touch; hints of mild chocolate, and moderate sweetness help the full picture; in the final, some resiny hops.
Very nice.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with full head. Aromas of ashtray and dry roasted malts, with a hint of chocolate. Flavors of ash, acidic licorice, and roasted malts. Vegetal - a dose of DMS?

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings richly roasted coffee and dry cocoa. Flavour is heavy on the espresso upfront, with very subdued notice of the cocoa. This is a dry coffee bomb all the way. Nice stuff.
