A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star, are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA!

Thin mocha head, aroma of bitter almost burnt coffee. Dark roasted burnt malts. No hops to speak of, it finishes quite bitter and a tad simple. The coffee flavor is there, but honestly the coffeein the flavor is quite similar to a regular stout.

Bottled, almost black colored and opague. Indeed a firm espresso aroma with even a touch of smoke. dark roasted espresso flavor, with a touch of cacao. More coffee flavor as a beer flavor, it seems. malty, almost medium bodied. Roastbitter aftertaste. A lot of flavor for its modest ABV.

At a tasting, small bubbly brown head, opaque very dark brown color, aroma of coffee beans, roasted and herbal notes and a hint of spice and dark bread in the back, flavor of roasted bitter coffee with some charcoal, mellow medium bitterness, hint of sweetness, medium bodied. Nice and really enjoyable.

Bottle at home, from independent shop in Lewes. Turned out o be a very smooth coffee beer. Was incredibly malty / roasted and enjoyably drunk slowly after a meal.

Dark brown. Quite rich coffee nose. Lighter body, some thicker sweet malts, brown sugar but then a thin coffeeish finish.
