500 ml bottle obtained in Hetta by Elisabeth and tasted at rating session 210512. Nearly impenetrable but clear black body with an off-white head and nice lacing. A good-looking brew to be sure. Aroma and flavour are similar to each other, both a pleasant mixture of smoke, wet ash and charred caramel and malts. Palate is full-bodied and rich, very comfortable in mouth. All in all this beer neatly brings together a feeling of an enjoyable evening spent by the side of a fireplace in some remote, old and moist cabin.

Bottle @ Setka Pub, Poznań. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt & caramel. Bitter, roasty flavour, with notes of coffee beans and malt, touches of ginger, and hints of hops. Medium carbonation. Nice.

500ml bottle from Beer Hawk - Probably my favourite William Bros beer so far (still got a few more to finish before I make my mind up). A pitch black body with a good-sized tan head that creates a good lacing. The aromas are quite pronounced and of milk chocolate and coffee along with a decent roasted malt tone. The flavours are of dark chocolate, once again accompanied by coffee and warming ginger. A lasting bitter, coffee and liquorice flavour in the finish, that further subdues to form a roasted malt final aftertaste. Pretty bloody good.

500ml bottle at home. Pours near black, 1cm off-white head that lasts pretty well. Coffee, chocolate and metallic aromas, subtle ginger if you search for it. A herbal note coming out as it slips down. Taste has a roasted bitterness and chocolate-to-toffee sweetness. Liquorice coming through on the aftertaste. Medium body, little thin, average carbonation. Decent bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle, 12C. Dark brown with a fat cap of light tan head. Aroma is roasty with spicy chocolate. Very smooth texture, lowish carbonation and that silkiness that often comes with oats. Really very sweet and round chocolate and roasted barley flavours, quite a lot of ginger which eventually chipped away at the rather wearing sweetness.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, cacao and caramel. Bitter flavour, roasted malts, cacao powder, hops and caramel. Medium finish, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, hint of ginger and hops. Balanced and quite nice.

Bottle at the DISOB tasting, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin off-white head. The aroma is dry and earthy, leading to a medium to strong bitter flavour with loads of liqourice, coffee and dark chocolate. The palate is somewhat smooth and the bitterness lingers well into the aftertaste. A very tasty and refreshing beer.
