Bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop, San Diego. Almost black with a firm head. Sweet with malt, dried fruit, toffee, bread and some light hops. The body was full and the finish long. Not a bad one but sweet and heavy.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Raisin, plum and molasses aromas. Thick with molasses and clove upfront turning to dark caramel covered dried fruit and chocolate before the lasting, warming bitter root finish.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is toffee, dark fruit, light booze, sugar. Taste is fairly bitter. Kind of sweet. Lingering aftertaste. Kind of thick body. Pretty good. Not as heavy as it seems it should be.

Bottle shared by Chris on 10/15/16.
Deep amber-auburn body is clear and topped by a thin, beige head.
Strong spiciness in the nose suggest there are still some hop acids floating around in here. Light citrus, pine and such balance the strong caramel-toffee maltiness. Lots of fruity esters, rye-like spiciness and fruitiness and actually somewhat reserved on the alcohol for its size.
Tastes like a barleywine. Yay. Clobbered with malt, bitterness and light alcohol, with lots of sugars lingering, big fruity notes from the nose and light caramel and vanilla notes lingering. You’d think these guys would have got sick of making these beers by now. Who do they think they are, Southern Tier?

Bomber from Tavour. Nose is raisins, pumpernickel, molasses, and bits of pine, nuts, and citrus. Clear rusty red with a medium lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet with contrasting bitterness, charred bread, and dark fruit. Good and drinkable but not as good as other Jewbelation versions.

Bomber from from AFH. Dark brown to black, has a prune juice appearance. no head. Mamlt backbone on these is always intense. Aroma is bitter with english hops and some piney goodness with a lot of brown sugar and malts. Juicy figs with apple, clove, peppers, sweet finish. More bitter than it needs to be for this age

Bottle purchased at one stop market. About 15 months ago, seller proper. Nearly black in color with thin white head. Nose is molasses, pine and herbal hops. Tastes very similar to a Black IPA or Cascadian dark ale. The hop flavor is still very bold. Moderate earthy pine bitterness with a medium body. Dry pine texture.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large creamy-soapy tan head that lingered and left very good lacing. The aroma was sweet with cherry, raisin, fig and molasses notes. The flavor was bitter, astringent and medicinal with some fig and raisin notes. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.
