Kasteel Donker is a member of the Belgian quadrupel family. These are strong dark brown beers where the roasted malt predominates. The very first beer of the Kasteel range is a full-mouthed beer with hints of caramel, coffee and chocolate. The sweet initial taste makes this beer surprisingly complex but very accessible.

An unusual anonymous quad. Dark pour with a fine head. Ok lacing. Decent intensity in the aroma and a balanced sweetness. Oily texture. Toffee and some dried fruits in the flavor. [Bottle from Gundersen]

A nice full flavoured drink. Stout-like and roasty. Hides the alcohol well. not so typically belgian, like a foreign version. Beerwulf online bottle 3.6 Upgraded, fresh bottle, bold big flavors. More of a belgian impression this time around

Flaska från Beergium. BBD mars 2018. Gott.

Bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, sweet caramel, raisin, black cherry. Flavor is black cherry, raisin, alcohol, dates... lots of dark sweet fruitiness with a hint of yeast in there. A sipper. Very nice.

Re-rated, old score 6/3/6/3/14=3.1 Smell-medium strong, malt, caramel, Belgian, sweet, kvass-ish. Foam-thin, malty, kvass-y, then some alcohol, caramel, sweetness, acidic tones, faint sourness. Head is medium, dark-ish brown, dirty white color, sticks to sides. Appearance - beer bottle cap.Clear, very dark ruby color. From - snifter Taste - caramel, sweet, malt, kvass-ish, bit acidic, Belgian. Very sweet, fairly alcoholic and somewhat kvass-like. I don't know, this feels very good, maybe because it is cold and it's hot outside.
