A long-time favourite in Central Canada, Corne du Diable exemplifies the craftsmanship demonstrated by Dieu du Ciel on a regular basis. The look of a red ale, with a soft white head with strong lacing and staying power. The nose is led by a significant roasted malt base, enhanced by citrus hops and a touch of carmel. the taste profile is complex, leading with roasted malt, caramel and citrusy and piney hops. Touches of orange rind, dark berries and roasted almonds combine to tip this beer towards an east coast IPA style. The soft carbonation is appropriate for the style. Balance is maintained in the sustained taste, with the richer sweetness in the malt coming to the foreground.

Can from Systembolaget. Rich aroma - hard to tell if its the malts or hops that are more prominent. Slightly murky mahogany. Little too rich and boozy for my liking for such an IPA.

Almost clear, mahogany colour, lasting laced. Malt, raisin and some pine aroma. Bitter, malty taste with hints of dried fruit and pine. Well balanced.

473 ml can. Pours a mahogany color with moderate head. Aromas of bittering hops and toasted malts. Flavors follow same, though with a little more going on, ie additional dried fruit and resin. Maybe in the vein of an old school British IPA. Or maybe this can is just old. Says 2025-03-05 on the can but cannot tell if bottling date or best before date.

Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is resinous hop, caramel malt, pine resin, orange, grapefruit. Flavour is sweetish with a long bitter finish. Body is medium. About what you desire from a good English IPA: Sturdy, hoppy and malty in the right proportions.

Poured from the tap @ Magnet. Hazed orangey brown with small white head. Very old school malty caramel with bright underlying citrus hops with mild resinous bitterness. Very classic.
