On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours dark with a streak of red, and a relatively small creamy head. Aroma is quite strange and agricultural with a grainy granary and horsey barn-like notes as well as some coffee and dark chocolate. Somewhat like enjoying a nice mocha in a farm yard – not bad, just a bit weird. Body is full creamy, and with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with chocolate, coffee and a syrupy burned sugar leaving a burned bitterness for the finish.

25/05/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Nøgne Ø Special Beer Festival. Bruna, densa, quasi impenetrabile, schiuma bianco-senape, molto persistente. Al naso malto, caramello, frutta secca, leggermente sporca forse. In bocca è ben bilanciata, dolce ma non troppo, non stucchevole, mi è piaciuta parecchio. Corpo medio-pieno, carbonazione corretta. Non male davvero.

Draught@Beer Hunters, ABV 7 % according to label in keg
Dark, almost opaque brown color, small beige head. Caramel, raisins and some toasted aroma in the nose. Medium-bodied. Caramelly, chocolaty, a bit flat. Has some alcohol. Low bitterness with toasted and yeasty notes. I really don’t know if I like this unconventional doppelbock. It is funny to read how different people’s ratings are.

Draught @ Gastropub Nordic. Probably 7% version.
Sweetish aroma has raspberries and vanilla with some hops. Flavour has malt, smoke and licorice. Really creamy and smooth palate. Not a typical DP, feels like a smoked porter. Really good anyway.

Boreft Beer Festival 2011: Dark chestnut coloured beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt and toffee with vineous fruity notes. Sweetish malty flavour with rich biscuit character, and a fruity touch. A hint of ash and smoke, and a bit of alcohol in the finish

Draught, Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Deep dark brown looks with a smallish tan head. Sweet aroma and flavour of dark fruits, booze and malts. Some chocolatey notes lurking. Alcohol fairly prominent. Not my favourite style, but I enjoyed this.
