500 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate syrup, oily coffee, vanilla and slick roasted malts. Flavors have some initial creamy softness, but quickly followed by bitter dark chocolate, black coffee, and dry roasted malts. Very dry bitter finish.

500ml bottle from Bottleworks, Seattle with the bottle listing 9.9% ABV and the name being Kulshan Russian Imperial Stout with the Shuksan not there anymore just as it appears on their website. It also appears I’m the first rater of the bottle version. Nose is chocolate, smoke, roast, and a hint of tobacco. Black with a medium, heavy lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet, smoky, and a hint of earthy peat. Nice impy.

Draught at the brewery, K2
Black color with brown head. Very nice aroma of roasted malt, coffee, burnt wood. The flavor is rich in dark chocolate, with some roasted malts, a bit of leather and liquorice later, moderate sweetness to support this, and the alcohol is well hidden. The final is good bit just shorter than expected. Side to side, this beer is richer than the barrel aged version.
Excellent beer.

Draft - Dark roast and some boozy chocolate. Jet brown with a light brown head. Dark roast, cocoa and a long bitter cocoa finish. Not bad.

Draft pour at the collection. Pours black with no head. Thick, syrupy body. Roasted malt aroma and flavor. Very standard to the style. Pretty good.

Dark brown, sweet molasses, and brown sugar, easy-drinking, a nice toasty character. Very well-balanced. Pintable.

On tap at Kulshan, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out skunky notes, some anise, and roast. Flavour is just as bizarre and off, with skunky vegetal notes dominating over top a roasty smooth palate. The flavours are rather nasty to be honest. Too much vegetal quality. Drain pour
