Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate malt, cocoa, vanilla, dark fruits, slight sherry oxidation and coffee roast. Touch of molasses. Medium body. Well balanced. Subtle oxidation actually plays well with this.

Cask at the bat. Pours black with a tight beige head that lasts well. Aromas are dark chocolate, liquorice, stone fruits. Slightly sweet, but balanced with good fruity hop bitterness. Full bodied, thick, flat carbonation, long finish. Mmmmm.

Aroma: Boozy blackcurrants, plum, prunes and dark chocolate. The aroma is verging on a deep red wine, like a Malbec.
Appearance: Jet black body with a tight beige head. Nice lacing.
Taste: Tangy stone fruits, charred wood and dark chocolate. Lovely warming alcohol burn (which isnโt too harsh). Do I detect chilli pepper in the finish too... or have I had too much beer for one day?!
Palate: Medium body with a luscious, oily mouthfeel. Gentle carbonation.
Overall: Rich, complex and boozy. An excellent Imperial Stout.

330 ml bottle sampled in 2008. Pitch black body with a big, dense beige head that fades rather quickly. Nice, but not very strong aroma of roasted malt and some liquorice. Flvor is sweet, dark, roasted malt, coffee, tar and dry fruit. Flavor is dark, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and dry fruit with balanced bitterness and warming alcohol. Fine body and a good aftertaste. Smooth and nice.

Half pint, as Decadence Imperial Russian Stout 8,4 % abv., poured from cask at the Marble Arch Inn. Cream-like, tan-colured head. Fragile lacing. Devil-black body. Mocha chocolate to the nose. Fine taste character of cocoa, plums, and woody vanilla. Lingering bittersweet finish with warming alcohol. Velvety mouthfeel. Full bodied. Enjoying sipper (Manchester, 27.01.2013).
