(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Chris & Ruth. huge thanks) A good balanced imperial stout. This was not over burnt or over hoppy or over sweet. The liquorice in aroma and taste cut the roastedness, ash and bitterness nicely. This was a beer of which I could drink the whole 0.75 litre bottle without any problems.

Draught at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Black, tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, cocoa. Taste is similar, with some dark fruits and vanilla. Nice stuff.

Botlte from Beermerchants.com. Black pour with a tan head. Good earthy aromas of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, a little smoke and dark fruits. Flavours of dark chocolate, coffee, cinammon, butterscotch. Very smooth. Has a nice coffee aftertaste.

Bottle from the Marble Arch Inn. Poured a slightly burgundy tinged black colour with a good sized and lingering darkish tan head, quite a looker. Aroma was loaded, and unfolded more treats with each inhale; so much to admire in there.... bags of dark chocolate, hops, malt, a plethora of fruit. A clear 10. Rich and oily, this glided down wonderfully. Flavour was pretty damned good too. Resinous hops in abundance, lashings of dark chocolate (how famous 5), great roasty toasty profile. Alcohol skilfully embraced. Reassuring to know that beer of this superb quality is within an hours reach....Top notch Imperial Stout.

Bottled at RBESG 2008. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, while the flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt and medium notes of soy sauce and wood, leading to a dry roasted finish.

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Black-colored. Aroma of roasted malt and quite a lot of hops with some citrus notes. Flavor starts a bit sweetish and malty and finishes with a lot of juicy hoppiness. Medium to full-bodied.
