A brew to finish a day in the fields! This sparkling wine / beer hybrid perfectly balances the familiar spicy characteristics of the saison yeast and apple tartness with rich honey notes.

Bottle shared with mR_fr0g at Duke’s Brew & Que, Hackney on 11 January 2014. Poured a cloudy yellow with a thin white head, which dissipated fairly rapidly. Aroma of fresh apples, vanilla and yeast esters. Interesting initial flavours; some citrus hop in there, but also sweet honeycomb and pastry. Finish was brown sugar, cooked apples and crusty brown bread. An interesting beer.

Bottle shared at Duke’s Brew and Que. Clouded golden / yellow colour pour with a fine short lived white head. Aroma is toast and apple. Some yeast and caramel in the aroma as well. Flavour follows relatively sweet, raisin, caramel , apple/. Thick sweet viscous mothfeel. Unusual one, not sure I’d go back for a second.

Rake. Cloudy gold beer with a small white head. Softish palate, somewhat viscous. A smidgen of fine carbonation. Sweet creamy malt blends well with sweet apple. A couple of grains of something spicy but overall this is a creamy and slightly (for the style) thick beer. Finishes fairly dry. A nice idea this but the general consensus of the people I was with was ’chewy’.
