Dageraad Brewing 8°

Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦

6.61

Rich malt and stone fruit flavours and a surprisingly crisp finish make 8° a complex and compelling brew. The drinker is greeted by aromas of plum and clove, produced by a special yeast from West Flanders. This is followed by the flavour of date sugar and English crystal malt and capped by a brisk, lightly tart finish, the result of a brief lactic fermentation.

Taster. Appearance: copper with a tan head. Aroma: dark fruits, caramel, Belgian yeast esters. Taste: along the same lines, with some fruity acidity. Overall: meh, not much is going on here.

Poured from 650mL bottle (bottled 09/27/2022). Hazy amber with full off white head. Dried raisin, Belgian yeast, feint hint of apple. Of their more regular beers, this is one I would go back to if there was nothing new on the menu.

Aroma is soft grains that somehow lean towards scotch. Has an okay red body with caramelly malt hints. Flavour is fruity malts with way too much juice. Mouthfeel is weak to watery. The alcohol is well hidden, so there's that, but not much else.

Bouteille 650ml, gracieuseté de BeerManCam lors du CanBIF Fall 2017, Thanks Cameron! Couleur acajou translucide, mousse beige fugace. Arôme de prune, cerise, lactique, légèrement végétal, malt caramélisé. Goût de malt caramélisé, prune, acidité moyenne-faible, cerise, légèrement sucré, légère âcreté. Carbonatation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen.

Amber and hazy. Thin head. Has a great peachy, tobacco, apple and light alcohol nose. Sweet front, with date fruitiness, pears, apples. Very well-balanced, just a touch of alcohol, complex esters. Very good.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dusty light brown with moderate head. Aromas of dark fruit, grapes, and toasted malts. Flavors of same with notes of chocolate and wine. Not sure on intent - not a classic Brune

Draught at the brewery
Hazy amber color, beautiful, with compact head. The aroma has some fruity esters, not fully convincing. The mouthfeel is rather dry, smooth, too boozy; there is a mix of dry caramel, vegetables and candi sugar. The fermentation doesn’t seem under control.
Messy.

On tap at Dageraad, pours an opaque vibrant dark orange with a medium white head. Aroma is very fruity, with dark fruits, bubblegum and Belgian yeast. Flavour is fairly hot, with bubblegum, some dark fruits, candied sugar and alcohol. Fairly abrasive mix of flavours - lack of cohesion here. Not off or anything, but needs some major work. Disappointing.

Draft - Lots of sweet raisin notes. Cloudy brown with a thin of white head. Very sweet and fruity with tons of raisin. Very sweet just like a dubbel.
