Our longest standing recipe is brewed with an emphasis on chocolate malts; this unclassifiable beer straddles milds to porters, tasting of coffee, cocoa and liquorice with a quenching bitter finish.

Hand pumped at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black, with almost no foam. Aroma is intense of chocolate. Body is rather thin, very smooth, with no carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet and roasty bitter. Final is average.

Pours very black, almost opaque. Just get a tiny red glow if you hold it up to a light. Big foamy browny beige head. Aroma is a bit smoky and quite a bit chocolatey. Also a little bit of an alcohol smell that you would expect from something much stronger. Taste is initially quite subtle chocolate with a bit of bitterness with more chocolate coming through and lingering at the end. Very nice drinking experience, medium bodied and a little bit thick and creamy. Very nice!

Cask @ Marble Arch Manchester. Pure chocolate and cream in the aroma. Malty creamy flavor with pure chocolate and roast. Roasty bitter flavor. Velvety mouthfeel. Is this beer a bit onedimensional? Yes. It is delicious? Yes!,!, 8 4 8 3 14 = 3.7 From bottle @ BBF 2010. Dark brown color. Soy sauce in both aroma and flavor. Bacon notes. Hints of caramel and licorice. 5 3 6 3 12 = 2.9

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a dense beige/tan head with great retention, looks perfect to me. Aroma: mostly chocolate with a good dose of coffee, some liquorice and dark fruity notes, roasted malt. Taste: mirroring the aroma with dark chocolate dominating and nice coffee notes, dark fruit, liquorice, bitter roasted coffee malt finish. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. An outstanding porter.

Handpull cask at the Magpie & Crown, Brentford. Slightly translucent purplish black, with a ring of tan head. Sweet milk chocolate and liquorice candy in the aroma. Intense sweet taste dominated by liquorice. Some bittering hop tempers the balance later in the sip but it’s a bit too sweet for me. Strangely, it feels like there’s heavy alcohol in the long finish, which makes it taste stronger than it actually is. I tend not to like these heavily chocolatey porters/stouts, but I do feel that although this is a decent beer all in all, there are balance issues.

Opaque black color with a small tan head. Nice chocolate and mild roasted aroma. Medium (light) body and a soft carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Chocolate, coffe and mild roasted flavor. Felt a bit thin at 5,5%.
