Keg at Brother’s Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Clear pale golden, mid sized creamy head. Light buttery lemon aroma. Mid sweet with some lemony tartness, medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Salted butter and light lemon. Low bitterness. Tasty, more or less proper style gose.

Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy pale yellow under a huge fluffy white head that fades slowly and leaves some patchy lace. Nose is lemon, wheat, grass, and light yeast. Moderately tart citrus with salt and spice. Mouth is slightly thin with prickly carbonation. 8/4/7/3+/15

Draft - Light soapy lemon notes. Clear gold with a nice white head. Very tart, acidic and salty. Very aggressive but nice.

I’ve been the first for a few listings now, thanks Indie and Bellwood, but I think this is the first time, I suspect, that I might be the last. (Unless there is someone with more patience than I, or they re-issue the beer. Boy, then I’ll have egg on my face. (And a lot more of this awesome beer in my belly.)) Cellared my last one of these just to see how it would do. The answer it did well. Pours a cloudy gold with a touch of amber, finger and a bit of white fluffy head that reduces to a thick sheet. Smells mildly of citrus, little sour grapes, coriander, and a little wheat. The taste some mild wheat malts, sourness, coriander, mild grape. Slat shows up in the aftertaste, but I don’t know that I would have seen if I hadn’t been looking. Nice dryness to it and lovely coriander, sourness to the aftertaste. Sorry to see you go my malty friend. Let’s hope the second, newly-released Great Lakes Brewery X Amsterdam colab "Ezra" is as good.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light coriander notes with wheat malt and light salty notes. Taste is also dominated by wheat malt with light coriander and some light salty notes are also perceptible. Body is light with great carbonation. There is some citrus and tart notes but not in an overwhelming way. Very enjoyable summer beer with some complexity.

Can’t really say how well they did the style because I’ve only had a couple of these. As an overall beer, this has some bretta in aroma. Pours dark cloudy yellow with decent head and lacing. Has some nice funk. Finishes sour and sweet. Good carbonation. Well-balanced - nice little beer. Bottle from lcbo.

Re-Rate: (500mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a clear medium gold with a bubbly white head, no lace. Aroma light coriander, wheat malt, salt, slight honey in the background, bit yeasty. Taste initially salty with slightly sour citrus, then becomes a little more tart/sweet in the middle with malted wheat, coriander, yeasty spice and light funk, honey, drying up on the finish with lots of pepper, coriander, slight citrus, grain, lingering saltiness (like cheese?) and bitterness, maybe just a hint of wood. Body light, slightly oily, but high crisp carb works to keep it refreshing. After tasting this briefly a year ago, I appreciate it a lot more now. Only gose I’ve had, but I’m imagining there are a lot more worse than this than there are better?

A haze golden gose with a thin faint off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with off notes. In mouth, a lightly doughy malt with oxidized notes, a bit of coriander, unpleasant and lightly spoiled. On tap at Session 99, June 23 2012.
