A great IPA, loads of hops, super citrucy, and floral, some great hops. Good malt backbone, and not overly bitter. I can see why this won the IPA challenge.

This IPA poured a deep amber colour with a creamy, light tan coloured head. Beautiful lacing. Scents include tea, a little lemon and caramel. First swig was nice and creamy with med to low carbonation. Flavours of tea, caramel and a little citrus. Finish is a bit bitter with tea flavours lingering.

Canned from LCBO, Ottawa. Clear nut brown, mid sized head. Grapefruit peels and dark fruits up front. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Toast with ripe cherries and grapefruit, vague notes of green apples and lacquer. Piney bitter finish. Positive aspects dominate.

Draft - Sweet caramel malts and some citrus hops. Clear dark copper with a decent beige head. Lots of sweet caramel and light bitterness.

Can from my local LCBO. A warm red-brown that’s not quite clear. Reasonable amount of dense off-white head. Nose with a solid amount of malt, mildly sweet with just some perfume and flower hops. Tastes like a solid brew. Dense malt favour of cereal, with lower, non dominating, hops flavour of flowers, and bitters. Very drinkable. Not really the hop-bombs of the current view of IPA but a nice beer.

can from the LCBO. Clear deep copper pour with a large beige head that fades slowly. Nose has lots of caramel, roasted nuts and pine resin. Light sweet candied sugar front with a medium bitter pine middle and some light fruit. Medium slick mouth with average carbonation. Nice enough but the flavours aren’t very well integrated.

Bottle at Supermarket, pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavour brings out piney hops, and a big caramely biscuity backing. Well-balanced and restrained for an IPA. Solid stuff.

Draught at C’est What, Toronto
Amber color, small head. Light aroma of caramel. Some caramel flavor, the hopping is partially resiny; it seems to be unfresh.

Draught, Caplansky’s. Golden-brown with a thick head. Earthy and lightly fruity aroma. Lots of malts here, too. Earthy, caramelly flavours with light toast. Decent bitterness (~45 IBUs?) but not expressive enough for an IPA. I like the beer, though. It’s well-balanced, earthy, and a good pale ale.
