Crisp copper coloured body with a one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pale malt, a bit of floral hops, some citrus and a hint of alcohol. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic malty note with a twang of citrus and pine, a little earthy flavour and a lot of bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows not much hops at all, some malt, a little fruit flavours and mostly bitter metal flavours. Overall, not such a great IPA, and not good for a west coast IPA. Decent to try at least given that I’m not from around there, but not worth the space in my suitcase. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 11-January-2013 for US$4.19 sampled at home in the real Washington on 07-February-2013 a day before leaving back for Seattle.

22 oz bottle purchased at 99 bottles in Federal Way, Washington. The label listed only Port Townsend I.P.A. (India Pale Ale). confirmed with the brewery that this is indeed Bitter End IPA. Pour is clear golden with some orange. Fizzy white head. Aroma is some dirty pine hoppiness - a bit of a wet cardboard smell. Taste of orange citrus hops, slightly sweet maltiness, and more of the wet cardboard dirtiness. I would try this again on tap, I have a feeling the bottling process was not kind to this beer. That or the beer was a bit on the old side.

Bomber pours a deep gold with off white head. The aroma is light making it tough to read. I get faint sweetness, roastiness and earthiness. The taste begins with vague bitterness. Before too long mild malt sweetness wells up. By midway pine hop bitterness builds toward the finish and is met by roasted malts and faint earthiness.

Bottle pours a very hazy orange/amber witha modest off white head. Spotty lacing. Aroma is bitter and flat. Flavor is again plenty of bitterness but not much hop flavor. Feel is a fairly heavy palate with a long lingering bitter trailer that puts me off a bit actually. A bit dissapointing for a PNWIPA. Thanks to Pinkzambia for sharing this one that I somehow managed to avoid all this time.
