“Doppel” meaning “double,” this style is a bigger and stronger version of the lower-gravity German-style bock beers. Originally made by monks in Munich, the dopplebock beer style is very food-friendly and rich in melanoidins reminiscent of toasted bread. We add our own twist with the addition of our house roasted coffee. A dark brown body with aromas of coffee, malts, caramel sweetness, ending with a bitter finish.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Hazy red - brown beer, small pale tan head. Light airy palate, dry. A tad over carbonated. Fresh coffee, tasty! Not bitter or creamy - just decent fresh coffee. Light dry finish. A simple beer but does what is says on the tin really well.

On tap at Kelly’s. Not black as I was expecting, more of a brownish yellow. Big coffee aroma fer sure. Flavor is also coffee, hard to taste any bock in this beer. A little tartness begins to show thru as the session continues. Surprisingly not too bitter. Yes, over the top as with most coffee beers. Finish is OK. Its coffee time!

Copper with a small off-white head. Strong aroma of cold coffee and ash tray, with some caramel and bread crust in the background. Very very sweet caramel and cold coffee flavour

Dark ruby-brown color, small steady brown head. Strong cold coffee, vegetables and chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lots of toffee, chocolate and cold coffee in the flavor. Quite sweet with some sticky bitterness (mostly from coffee). Short finish. Doesn’t feel like a lager, so most likely an ale.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is black old coffee as well as some mild sourness. Flavour is old black cold coffee along with toffee, mild toasted notes as well as some slight caramel. Pleasantly balanced.

Medium brown pour. Aroma is full of biscuity malts, coffee, chocolate, molasses, too. Flavor has an initial coffee note followed by heavy molasses and bready malts. Dark, ripened fruits, some lingering sugary sweet malt finishes it. A little unbalanced but an interesting twist on a dopplebock.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was malty and roasty with notes of coffee and nut. The flavor was nutty, roasty and moderately bitter with notes of coffee, caramel, cocoa, vanilla and a sour off presence underneath. The finish was long and nutty with lingering coffee. There was an earthy off note that lingered as well Fairly full bodied. Interesting.
