On draft @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Amber body with a thin beige head. Aroma is quite strange, it just reminds my about forest, swampland and some kind of weird perfume. I never sniffed at a beaver (the animal!) so I don’t have any reference here. Flavor is rather special as well, moist forest, soil, maybe fruity? wood, some kind of bitterness and iron. Interesting for sure, but I really had some problem to figure out if this was good or not. After three or maybe it was four glasses I came to the conclusion that this is not bad when getting over the surprice, but I did not feel for another this evening.

Wow. Served out of a urinal at the Haand festival. Aroma is smokey bacon and light pine. Taste is sweat and spice. Not unpleasant. But I’m not sure that animal products belong in beer.

On tap from a urinal(!) at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Sweet Jesus - who is crazy enough to use the secretion from beaver anal glands (castoreum) in BEER??!! Apparently, the guys at Närke are! The beer has an amber colour, moderate off-white head. Weird and penetrating aroma of beaver (insert jokes here at your own will), reminds me of smelly oils and undefined chemical waste. Hints of leather too. Dry flavour with a rather disgusting dominance of castoreum. Some hops in the finish. Nope, this is not a beer for me.

Bottle 330ml.[ Courtesy of Håge ]. Unclear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, roasted, wood, mint. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, sweet malty, flowers, perfume, wood, mint. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Very special aroma and flavor with the beaver castoreum .. but I did like it ;O) [20110613]

Draught (Stockholm Beer Festival 2010) - Dark amber/copper in colour. Musty aroma with leather, dried fruit, herbs and some smoky hints. Gassy and musty taste with leather, dried fruit and caramel. Interesting and a bit off the wall, but rather nice.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 1 Oct 2010) Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with leather, tar, shoe polish and dried fruit. Malty, fruity taste with notes of leather, dark fruit, dried apricots and smoked fruit. The castoreum gives it a distinct tarry, leathery character with quite some bitterness (reminiscent of wormwood in a way). One of the most weird beers I’ve tasted, quite extreme, but in my opinion it works quite well ... in moderate amounts.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival:
Pours a dark amber colour with a small, bubbly head. Pungent leather aroma. Strong flavour of new leather; it tastes like shoe shop! Absolutely undrinkable!
