Revived with anisette and baking spices added. Spicy aroma with a bread skin. Spice takes over the taste with bread malt and anisette. Long finish

Crisp golden coloured body with a bit of a beige and light tan/brown tint, all with an off-white head about three centimetres tall and quite a bit of funky sediment from the malt substitutions. Aroma of grass, herbs, grain, light hay/wheat and a noticeable bit of fennelseed and some sort of funky cardboardie fake malt. Light-bodied; Sharp funky flavour of the fake malts at first that luckily dies down quite a bit immediately and shows more of a grassy and herbal quality with some dry grain and wheat flavours right afterwards. Aftertaste shows some grain, a little bit of sweetness, but mostly a dry, assertive grassiness from the hops and malt, but more from the fennelseed and specialty grains they used in this one. Overall, a decent enough saison that is almost better in terms of relative beers, given its made with some very funky ingredients, but in an overall sense, this one is decent at best. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Malama Market in Haleiwa, O'ahu (North Shore), Hawaii on 28-December-2016 for US$11,49 sampled back home across half the Pacific and the whole of the USA in Washington on 29-September-2017.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy blond color, medium sized head. The aroma is fresh, a bit minty. Well carbonated, not too dry, nice malt backdrop, evident but not oppressive mint/fennel touch; good bitterness level.
Original beer, not too weird, very nice.

650 ml bottle @ Både &. Unclear golden orange with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma has malt, spicy yeast, hint of fruit, quite much fennel and liquorice. Flavor is quite sweet malt, hint of caramel, some fruit and rather much fennel and liquorice. Medium to slightly heavy body as it heats up and this also make it feels way too sweet after a while. Sure interesting, but not exactly a refreshing beer with low bitterness and sweet liquorice. Probably best for the ticker portions, one bottle is just way too much.

Bottle 650ml @ Bakgården Både &, Kristiansand
Pours hazy golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, licorice, fennel and yeast. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long malty, licorice, yeasty and citrus finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 22oz. At Både &. An unclear orange colored beer with a dense off white head. Lacing. Lots of licorice in the aroma, of the fennel kind, with grassy notes and a yeast touch. Some generic fruityness too. It’s dry and nicely carbonated, full bodied and with a suitable bitterness. Fruity flavor with a tad too much fennel, still nice in a way. Lasting finish. A nice beer indeed although probably more interesting than drinkable. 150821

Draft - Odd grains and fennel. Clear light gold with a decent white head. Sweet, light grains and tons of fennel with a nice bite in the finish. Weird but really good.

On tap at Breakside Milwaukee, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of fennel and celery, with a spicy Belgian yeastiness. Flavour is very yeasty and spicy, with the fennel pretty far upfront. Not a fan of the fennel here - it's done well but I don't care for it much.
