The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks zvikar. Batch 12 - 2014 bottle. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, cookies, dark fruits and alcohol. Sweet caramelly flavor with some fruitiness and lots of alcohol. Boozy mouthfeel ,a bit syrupy. Too boozy.

A little heavy on the booze. Maroon pour with good head and lacing. Oaky. Some sweetness. Thick pour. Some raisin in this as well, not much in the way of florals. Tap at Churchkey Avery event.

12 oz bottle. Batch 12. Pours a deep mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of dark caramel, brown sugar, sweet malts, and light bourbon/alcohol. Flavors of orange syrup, dark caramel, dark fruits and sweet malt extract. Beer liqueur. Quite warm but I would not guess it’s 16+%. Neat.

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grain, earthy fruits, a bit of Belgian yeast and some underlying alcohol. Flavor has lots of sweet grains with strong booze, a bit of earthy fruits and some light Belgian yeast.

Bottle from Royal Liquor, Encinitas, CA. Batch 10 (2012): 16.0% ABV. Unclear dark orange, light brownish colour with a thin beige head. Aroma is malty, caramel, raisins, dried fruits, brown sugar, slight roastiness, slight alcohol nose. Flavour is caramel malts, syrup, dried fruits, slight alcoholic, a bit spicy. Soft mouthfeeling, low carbonation. A hopped barley wine. A real sipper. Very pleasant. It has some age on it, so I guess the sweetness has mostly been gone, which seems to be a good thing. Nice to wind down with after the NL - CRC spectacle.
