The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.[ Vintage 2006 - Batch 4 ]. Light light unclear dark amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, dark berry, vintage malt, oxided malt, raisin, plum, burnt brown sugar, alcohol, wood notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. [20090208]

The 2005 vintage has been aging quietly in my cellar for the past few year. I was incorporating some new brews into my cellar recently and decided it was time to give this one a try. Pours a cloudy, nearly opaque, orange brown with a slim white head that faded fast. The nose is amazing, raisins, brown sugar, honey, sweet/sticky fruits, slight booze, caramel, orange. Flavor is very sweet, caramel, toffee, with citrus, some booze, and this delicious, shoe leather like earthiness. Thick and sticky in the mouth on the finish. I wish I had a case of this. Delicious and well aged. Probably peaking.

Bottle. Dark redish to brown colour. Smells like a barley wine. Butter and a bit sour tasting. Full bodied and heavy without any special taste beeing lifted.

Bottle. Nice redbrown color. Sweetness, butter, raisin, small smokeiness, hop bitterness. This beer has too much of everything. The end result is a beer with no real depth.

12oz bottle-pours a thin tan head and pink tint and red/orange color. Aroma is sweet dark malt-molasses/ashy, dark fruit-prune/raisin/fig, alcohol. Taste is very sweet cane sugar/candy sugar, woody, sweet dark malt-molasses/ashy, dark fruit-prune/raisin/fig, alcohol, some hops partially offsets the sweet. Occasional. Bottle. Ruby amber beer with a cream-colored head. Alcohol in the aroma with some sweet malt. Thick malt with some caramel and yeasty spice, but the alcohol makes a big appearance. Fuller bodied. Alchol lingers and takes over with a bit of dried fruit, spice, and yeast. I expected worse and was pleasantly surprised.

Dark amber colour with small head.Aroma is sweet fruity most like dark dry fruits with real heavy alc.Sweet mouthfeels and strong finish.

Thanks to KAggie97 for the beer. Bottled 2006. The bottle looks really good. The beer in the glass also, quite dark, not much foam. The beer starts strong-alcoholic, quite malty. Warming and intense finish, sweet notes. Very good beer!

(2007 vintage, Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-05-15) Amber colour. White medium-sized head. Lots of malts in nose. Alcohol in full-bodied palate. Malts, hops, liquorice and even salty liquorice in taste. Alchol even warms a bit. Some more hops begin to taste when beer is warmer.

Vanilla aroma accents. Big alcohol and lots of caramel, with some molasses. Big chewy body...but way too boozy. Fairly strong vanilla throughout. Dry, alcholic finish is about right - it’s a rough beer.
