ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS BEER WENT TO THE DEXTER RELIEF FUND
March 15th, 2012 a tornado tore through Dexter, missing the brewery, but not all of our neighbors. What could we do to help? Hmmm. We do know how to make beer. So make a beer is what we did. This beer. Teaming up with co-conspiritors, Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, Schera's Algerian Restaurant, and The Abu Nawas Beverage Company, to create a a collaborative beer like none other.
A dark smokey sour saison full of rich aromatic coffee and the spicy heat of a secret Algerian spice blend.
Cheers & Mahalo plenty!

750 mL bottle. Pours deep brown to black without a head. Definite coffee aroma, but not overwhelming, mixing with sour fruity notes, spice. Flavor matches the coffee with an overall moderate but soft tartness, hints of cherry and berry. Good and tasty.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a cream head. Coffee and light malt aroma. Tart and light coffee flavor. Medium bodied. Tart and light coffee linger with light toffee.

Bottle from John’s Grocery. Batch 1068/1069. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, lightly roasted malts and JP house funk. Coffee and toasted malt flavor with a little funkiness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. A.strange one for sure but I enjoyed it.

750ml bottle thanks to GT2. Pours a transparent brown with some thin, creamy white head. Nose is big with coffee grounds, green bell pepper, some black peppercorn, brown sugar. Flavor is stale, sour coffee, vegetal, light pepper, some acidity. Full bodied, slightly sour finish. I’m just not sure coffee and JP are a match made in heaven.

On tap at Small Bar. Pours a cloudy brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a note of coffee with a bit of of JP funk and light sour red fruit. Flavor has sour red fruit and light funk with coffee coming out in the finish. Definitely a unique combination.
