Hopleaf Pale Ale has remained true to its recipe since 1928 replacing its equivalent Farsons Pale Ale over time. Being the first beer brewed at the Farsons brewery in Hamrun, this Pale Ale was instrumental in opening a new chapter in the history of the Maltese brewing industry, being the first locally brewed Ale.

Hopleaf Pale Ale is Malta’s bitter ale brewed with high quality malt and traditional English hops. It has a strong, fresh character with a pleasant hoppy bitterness balanced out by malty sweetness. Today this pale ale is enjoyed by mature beer drinkers and ale lovers alike. Hopleaf Pale Ale nicely complements Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine as well as traditional Maltese dishes such as roasted poultry, grilled meats and rabbit stews.

Bottle shared by ippopotamo36 (thanks Alberto!). Pours clear golden with a medium white foam. Aroma has notes of dishwashing, malt, butter, some metallic. Flavour is malty, unbalanced and unpleasing. Light body, light carbonation. Undrinkable.

At the multi-national tasting held in Rome-Italy on 29/08/2015 (Jow, Mortlach, ippopotamo36 and Marco). Bottle courtesy of Sylvan, thank you. Pours golden clear bright color, white foam. Nose: bad feel of rinse dish washing, really bad. Mouth: malty but awful.

Pours a clear, darker golden color, topped with a medium sized white head. Malty aroma with some biscuity notes, mild altogether. Taste starts with some sweetness, a bit of caramel, followed by a decent hoppy bitterness. Ok.

Lys brun klar med lavt hvitt skum. Korn, metallisk og alkohollukt. Lite smak på denne. Lett søtlig, noe blomster i smak.

Can split at the Cotteridge Conventione, dankt to Herr Bropey 24/01/15. Clear light golden blonde with a moderate off white swirl atop. Nose is pale malt, straw, grain, caramel. Taste comprises papery tones, grain, pale maltings, cereal. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So very very so, had this as a pale lager, English pale ale - my nutsack!
