Almost every species in the universe has an irrational fear of the dark, but there’s nothing to fear in this perfectly balanced Cascadian Dark Ale. the stellar mass that lies within forms a dichotomous darkness of Midnight Wheat and Chocolate Malts, punctuated by the presence of Galaxy, Horizon, Comet, and Apollo hops. This may just be the beer you’re looking for... So say we all...

TASTING NOTES: Blackish brown with dark ruby highlights. The out-of-this-world hop combination presents a citrusy/spicy hop flavour and bitterness, with slight roastiness from Midnight Wheat and Chocolate Malt.

Dull light brown, crackery stale coffee taste, moderate bitterness. Ok, like the others it’s a bit unrefined.

Pours pitch black with a smooth white head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, coffee and hops. Taste is a bit watery with some roastiness, licorice, coffee and grassy hops. Finish is wet, smooth and mildly roasted. Okay, a bit light bodied and mildly hopped CDA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Absolute Horizon CDA on 02 Jun 2014 at 21:37 - Score: 7. On tap at Bomber, pours an opaque dark amber brown / near-black with a medium tan head. Nose is quite chalky, with a dry hoppy note and toasted malt foundation. Flavour is well-balanced between the roasted malt and dry piney hops, with a very small residual sweetness. Finishes lightly roasty and chalky, with a mild astringency. Very solid black IPA.

Draught at the brewery
16oz

Black color with small beige creamy head. Aroma of dark malts and some coffee; the light aroma of cheesy yeast is actually a good complement. Fairly smooth mouthfeel; the dark malts dominate, there is also a touch of dark chocolate and coffee, but not ashy luckily. Strong bitterness, some hop resins hidden by the roastiness.
Balanced, very pleasant, fresh.
