Rich and dark, this full bodied stout has just enough hop bitterness to counter the big and bold malt backbone. Chocolate malt and roasted barley yield rich flavours and smoky aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. Slight ester presence, with hints of pear and blackberry. This face-warming favourite was blessed by the late addition of boreal birch syrup (produced in Quesnel at Moose Meadow Farms), lending it a truly unique flavour. Goes well with any hearty dishes, or try sipping it while roasting marshmallows around the campfire.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Very dark brown with beige head. Coffee and dry cocoa. Birch syrup adds a bittersweet touch. Adds a slight sweetness with a mild dry bitter finish. Interesting unique touch that works. If they increase the quality of the chocolate flavour this would be a top stout.

Bottle found in northern BC. Very nice big bright brown fluffy head and dark body. Good aroma of tar, motor oil, coffee beans. Flavour is nice with lots of chocolate cake and coffee, some sharp molasses hints. I’ve had a lot of bad stouts in B.C. but this is one of the exceptions, and very good.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is complex, with notes of cocoa, light coffee and roast, all blended cohesively. Flavour is robust, with notes of roasted malt and coffee upfront, with some dry cocoa underneath. Now this is how you do a non-impie stout. Hugely flavourful, balanced and powerful. Fantastic stuff. Barkerville are killing it.
