If you’re the type who likes to judge a beer by it’s colour, 33 Acres of Darkness will surely surprise. While most equate heaviness with flavour this Schwarzbier strives to bring tantalizing taste beyond the usual weight.
Inspired by the beer drinking pleasures of Japan this de’light’ful lesson in a bottle (or glass) was our first flagship seasonal and is now a mainstay in both our tasting room and select stockists.

I visited these guys on a layover in Cancouver ages ago. 33 Acres of Darkness Schwarzbier 5% Deep black with a thick beige foam and big roasty cocoa aroma. Medium to light bodied and a touch dry. The taste is very roasty cocoa. Light and dry refreshing dark lager, not a huge fan of the style but this is a good example of it.

Has a very faint licorice aroma but nothing else. Okay foam is on top of a brown black body. Flavour is sweet and dark molasses with roasted barley hints. It's okay but could me more crisp on the mouth. Just all right.

At the source: pours black with beige head. Aroma is smoky and a bit burnt. Taste is roasty, malty with a lingering aftertaste. Quite solid. Very smooth and velvety. Good.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with full off-white head. Aromas of roasted/burnt malts, nuts, and dusty dry chocolate. Flavors of creamy coffee, dark dry chocolate, nuts - leaning towards, unsalted peanuts and pecans, and lots of dry roasted malts. Smooth and creamy for a Schwarz. Very nice for the style - especially when sampled without reference to an ale.

Medium brown color with light brown head. Very dry malty nose with tons of cacao. The mouth shows cacao and very faint hint of molasses. Decent.
