Bottle. Medium brown, bit cloudy which makes it something of a muddy appearance. Lots of date stickiness on the nose, with wood, delicate spice. Similar date character and a soft body. Hint of wood combines with alcohol to lend a bit of dryness to the finish. Not bad...bit flat and I noticed that cap fell off when I touched it.

Draught at 12 Kings, Vancouver
Batch 587
Hazy dark amber color. Sweet and very estery Ale, typical North American attempt at brewing Quads, malty, candy-like, basically cloying. Warm alcohol feeling (too much), and mellow vanilla notes that could be barrel aging, or maybe not. Light nutty touch in the finish.
Not bad. But not for me.

500mL bottle, pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out notes of cola, some oxidation, and dark chocolate. Flavour is quite fruity, with bourbon, cola, some cocoa and light Belgian yeast. Inauthentic by a long shot, but it's fairly pleasant. Some oxidation, some chalk, and fruitiness. Very good.

Notes from BC beer awards - on tap. Pours brown with fine head. Aromas of wood, bourbon/alcohol, and brown sugar. Flavors are similar and stronger: cane sugar, wood barrel, and bourbon. Somewhat acidic and hot but a nice variant of the quad which makes a better product.

Draft - Oak aged version - Brown sugar, raisin and plum with some barrel notes. Dark cloudy brown with no head. Boozy, oaky with raisin and dark sugars. Would be amazing with a bit of age to mellow out the flavors.
