Bottle, 10%. 7 months past BB date. vinous, grainy aroma. Hazy orange/brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is quite sweet with a clear note of alcohol. Vinous with a refreshing, but perhaps malplaced citric finish. As it warms, it comes out much more malty and well-balanced.

Bottle. Sour caramel malt and alcohol aroma. Reddish brown color with moderate head. Toffee malt and astringent alcohol. Easy drinking - just not very complex.

330 ml. bottle. Dark copper amber color with a substantial beige/tan head. It does a little ring lacing. Aroma is slightly sour dark fruit over dark roasted caramel. Thinnish body with coarse carbonation. Flavor is caramel, treacle, raisin, alcohol. There’s fair heat here. Seems to have woody notes. This finishes towards dry, but without much bitter. Still, it is something for a cold evening. Alcohol is a bit too evident, but it drinks well, though advisedly slowly.

Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 24-04-08, via Imporations Privées Bièropholie, savoured on February 8 2008; eye: amber with a reddish hue, clear, slight effervescence, creamy beige head that remains, lots of lacing; nose: somehow reminiscent of a sour ale, light malt, light candied fruits; mouth: malt, licorice, small berries, splash of caramel, slight hops, a bit of maple water, finale in light malt with a sour side to it, lightly sweet, slight bitterness, medium body, a bit thin, not much carbonation; overall: disappointing FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 33 cl, meilleure avant 24-04-08, via Imporations Privées Bièropholie, savourée le 8 février 2008; œil : ambrée avec des teintes rougeâtres, claire, légère effervescence, mousse beige crémeuse qui perdure, beaucoup de dentelle; nez : relents de « brune des Flandres », léger malt, léger fruits confits; bouche : malt, réglisse, petits fruits, filet de caramel, très léger houblon, un peu d’eau d’érable, finale en malt léger avec un p’tit côté surette, légèrement sucrée, très légèrement amère, corps moyen, texture un peu mince, peu carbonatée; en résumé : désappointant

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Very dark, zippy, not much foam. Flavor very strong, sweet and malty. Very good beer.

Brown with tiny off white head. Sweet flavor with prunes and raisins. Very sweet malty flavor with notes of yeast, prunes, raisins and caramel. Far to sweet for my taste. Saving the rest for aging....

Ruby-red colour, white head. Aroma: a complexity of red fruits. Flavours of red wine, red fruits. A bit sour, but also a typical grimbergen sweetness. Alcohol well hidden. Nice beer.

(33cl bottle, via DerDoppelbock) Slightly hazy, mahogany colour with a creamy, slightly tanned layer. Sweet fruit-accented (plums, dried berries) aroma with light toasty and slightly acidic vinous notes, accompanied with a touch of alcohol. Sweet, sugary flavour, full bodied with medium to lively carbonation. Malty and fruity taste with a vinous and a light spicy note; sweet malty and balanced fruity finish with a quite well-integrated alcohol according to the high abv. Not very complex but pleasant to drink.
