A pioneering recipe, Beau’s Nordic Pale Ale offers up the pure perfection of hoppy pale ale infused with a bouquet of botanicals. Inspired by Scandinavian brewing traditions, NPA is brewed with dried heather flower, bog myrtle, yarrow, and rose hips. Herbal notes add delightful complexity and round out the bright hoppy flavour and aromas.

600ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a generous pillowy white head. Aroma is heather and grass and a mix of citrus and spice. Taste is a good balance of sweetness and a great long dry and bitter finish. A large number of competing notes make this quite interesting but not something for everyday. Mouth is medium slick with slightly soft carbonation.

(bottle) clear coppery amber colour with a medium tall tan head; aromas start with fruit, then a whiff of metal, then a strange salty herby aroma; dry flavour with a long medium bitter finish; interesting but not anything I want to return to

Batch number 3312, rated many years ago when it came out. The ingredients look wild with lots of teas (flowers) and some maple syrup. Still smells like a pale ale. There is also cranberries in here, and they add a nice touch of fruity sweetness to everything. Hazy amber colour with a frothy white head and creamy lacing. Mild soap nose with the hop and oats. A nice dryness for mouthfeel, but still goes down well with some wetness. Hop bitterness with loads of flavours. I am pretty amazed at everything found in here and how well it is blended. A must try !!

Tap: Poured a hazy beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry hoppy notes with light herbal feel. Taste is also dominated by dry hoppy notes with some herbal notes and lightly sweet malt notes. Body is full with good carbonation. This was an enjoyable beer but I can’t say I detected half of the ingredient after reading the commercial description!

Pretty decent from Beau’s new collaboration brewing series. Pours cloudy light orange with good head and lacing. Some citrus head with light malt. Bitter finish, soft carbonation. Nice balance. Some pine as well. Didn’t realize all these random ingredients were thrown in, but it’s Beau’s so I shouldn’t be surprised. Nonetheless it works. On tap at Rhino winter fest.

A hazed golden amber with a thin off white head. In aroma, a lightly fruity malt with light spices and faint sulfur. In mouth, a crisp fruity malt with mineral character, light herbal spices, thyme, ok.

(Draught at Bryden’s, Toronto ON, June 23rd 2013) Pours a hazy golden yellow with a decent bubbly white head and modest lace. Aroma lemony citrus, vegetal hops, pale grainy malts, light sweetness. On the palate this is an herbal pale ale, floral hops and slightly lemon zest with cereal grains and a bit of pale malt sugar, at mid-palate some evergreen dryness, still herbal, faintly medicinal finish that is mostly hops and grain. Carb high, body light but oily. An adequate pale ale but nothing mind-blowing here. Had no idea that there were so many additions in here when drinking it, and to be honest the character of most doesn’t come through in the beer.
