Bottle @ home. Clear ruby red color, thick off-white to beige head. Smell some sweetness, slightly woodish and indeed winey. Taste winey, also sweetness and soft, velvety. Very soft carbonation, a bit thin texture. Low to medium body.

Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass darker than the other versions I had, small head. Starts strong-malty, modest sweet, hints of chewing gum. Also some fruity notes. Finish well balanced, less sweet, warming-malty. Good beer!

On tap at Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Slightly hazy amber beer, small white head. Smooth semi dry palate with mild fine carbonation, Sweetish malt with some dried fruit. Quite a lot of estery bubblegum. Dry woody finish. Not really getting this batch. Unsatisfying. Original rating 2.7.

2nd March 2012.
A bottle this time. Cloudy brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate with nice fine carbonation. Smooth mild caramel with estery bubblegum that isn’t too sweet. Holding it together is a nicely integrated red wine (red wine?) vibe that has Port like cherry and blackcurrant. A little spice and a trace of wood. Semi dry finish. Very nicely integrated.

Draft @ Delirium Monestarium, Brussels. 15cl LaTrappe chalice.

Bottle, 375ml corked. It pours an unclear, brown body and a dense, beige head. Vinous nose with lots of dried fruits and sugar, quite alcoholic too, in a nice way. Some oak hints. Wonderful flavor with a good warmth and a healthy dose of dried fruits. Sugar notes. Full-bodied, warming and sweet. Lasting warming finish with sugar, dried fruits and a fine bitterness. 110820
